Want to take Help Desk in '24-'25?
The Help Desk course is a hands-on study of media and technology. The course is self-paced and project-based. Students will identify the needs of the library media center and the school as a whole as it pertains to literacy and technology. This course will elicit and require skills that are relevant to most of today’s professions. You will be instructing, creating, curating and organizing information. This may come in the form of a blog that you manage for a department. It may be troubleshooting and solving a problem that a group is having. It may be building a set of instructional videos and text-based materials for the school to use. In addition to these independent projects, students will assist with the daily duties of the library.
We will focus on the following concepts:
Information Literacy
Technology
Library skills
MakerspaceSuccessful students are: independent workers, self-motivated, take initiative with projects and are able to manage their time well. These skills will be nurtured and grown throughout the year, but a basis in them would be ideal. This is a yearlong class for Juniors and Seniors who complete the application process and are accepted. If you have any questions about this course or the application, please contact Mrs. Slater.

Visiting the Media Center
Students are allowed to come to the Media Center before School between 8:45 and 9:00, and then after 9:00 with a pass from their 1st block teacher. During the day, they may come with a pass from their teacher (signed and dated with the time), except during 2nd High School lunch when the Media Center is closed. After school, students may visit as long as they are not riding the school bus, have permission from their ride, and have spoken to Mrs. Slater in advance to make sure that the Media Center will be open, which is typically until 4:45. However, your ride MUST be here waiting for you.
Please be respectful of those around you, as well as the space when visiting.
Help Desk students are available to assist 2A, 4A, & 1B. Please show your pass, sign in at the desk to the left of the door when you enter, and let the student at the desk know what they can do to help you. Mrs. Slater is available if it's something they're unable to help you with. Please refer to the page on the school website for assistance with Chromebooks or other technology needs.
